Lewis and Clark Bridge (USA)

Thèmes :

Three major interstate highways converge in the city of Louisville, Kentucky, where historically they converged downtown to cross the Ohio river into Indiana over a single bridge. As traffic volumes grew, the resulting congestion caused delays and was an economic drain on the region. To address this, a cooperative effort between the states of Indiana and Kentucky resulted in the Ohio River Bridges project, or ORB. This ambitious undertaking delivered two new river crossings and associated approaches. One of the bridges, part of the downtown crossing, was located parallel to the existing truss bridge in downtown Louisville. The second was located 12 km upstream and was known as the east end crossing during construction.
